Baby Link from Legend of Zelda - Knitted Handmade Halloween Costume

DIY baby Link costume

Yesterday was Halloween! It was so fun to see all the little ones in their adorable costumes, and I love a good DIY costume. My cousin Anna made this adorable knitted Link costume from Legend of Zelda. It was definitely a hit! While I didn’t make the DIY Link costume myself, I am super excited to share the pattern so that you can make it yourself!

The pattern for this DIY baby Link costume is free on Ravelry. It’s called “The Legend of Baby Link,” and it’s by Joanna Rankin.

Here is the completed project entry on Ravelry for this particular outfit:

More about the DIY knitted Link costume

The knit Zelda DIY baby link costume my Aunt knitted consists of these 5 pieces. The main two pieces are the top and bottom, and the rest are cute accessories.

  • A green top with the signature brown belt
  • The adorable dark green Link hat
  • A bandoleer that fits a baby bottle …um…adorable!
  • Little pants
  • Brown boots (not pictured).
    • You could also just knit cute little boot cuffs if making boots is too much! Little brown boots would be cute to wear around the house, too.
    • Or, you could make some shoe covers.

Other things you could make

Now, we all know that I’m not a knitter… But if you’re skilled enough to knit without a pattern, here are some ideas you might want to try:

Sword & shield

In the Legend of Zelda, link has a sword and a shield. You could make mini versions of these (though I’m sure it would take a lot of time!)

Tunic

The legend of Zelda outfit looks more like a tunic than a top and pants. For babies, two pieces like this pattern are perfect for quick diaper changes. But, if you make something similar for older kids then you could make the top a little bit longer, making it appear like a tunic (or you could make it into a dress if your kids prefer that!)
